Privacy Policy

Last updated 1 November 2026

Singa helps primary school pupils practise exam papers and questions. Because our users are children, we collect as little as we can, never show ads, never sell data and never track users across other apps or websites. This policy explains what we collect and why, in line with Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). Singa is run by Cypresso Pte. Ltd.

1. Parents and guardians

Singa is meant to be set up by a parent or guardian, who signs in with their Apple ID and agrees to this policy on the child’s behalf. One Apple ID can hold up to 10 children; they share the plan, and each child’s work is kept separately. Purchases go through Apple and need the Apple ID’s password, Face ID or, with Family Sharing, a parent’s approval (Ask to Buy).

2. What we collect

  • Account: the identifier Apple gives us when you sign in with Apple, and the email Apple shares (which may be a private relay address). We don’t keep names: each child goes by a nickname (one we make up, or one they choose), which other students see on the leaderboards with their school (if given) and stars.
  • Profile: each child’s level, school (optional) and daily goal, and a parent’s email if you give one for progress reports.
  • Schoolwork: the handwriting on exam pages, practice questions and scratch areas, images of submitted pages, marks, mistakes and time spent.
  • Questions to Teacher Singa: chat messages and any photos sent. Phone numbers, emails and NRIC numbers in messages are removed before they are stored or sent to the AI.
  • Feedback you send us in the app or on this website, and our replies.
  • Purchases: App Store subscription records (product and dates). Apple handles payment; we never see card details.
  • Settings and technical data: app language, notification token, and server logs (IP address, requests) kept for security.

3. How we use it

  • To mark papers and practice, explain mistakes and answer questions. Submitted pages, the questions and messages are sent to an AI model provider for this, which processes them to return the marking or answer.
  • To show progress, the mistake book, streaks and leaderboards, and history across your devices.
  • To send the weekly progress email to the parent’s address you gave (after you confirm it), through our email provider. Every email has a link to stop them.
  • To run subscriptions and credits, answer feedback, keep the service secure and fix problems.
  • To keep children safe: messages flagged by our safety checks (for example signs of distress) may be reviewed by our staff.

4. Where it is stored and for how long

Data is stored on Amazon Web Services in Singapore and encrypted in transit. We keep it while your account exists. When you delete your account (Me → Delete account) we delete it and everything linked to it straight away, for every child on it; removing one child (Me → Students) deletes that child’s work. Database backups that may still contain it expire within 7 days. Security logs are kept for up to 30 days.

5. Your rights

You can ask to see or correct your personal data, or withdraw consent, through Feedback or the contact below. Withdrawing consent means deleting the account, which you can do yourself in the app at any time. A grown-up can also hide a child from the leaderboards in the app.

6. Sharing

We share data only with the service providers that run Singa (cloud hosting, the AI model provider, our email provider for parents’ reports, and Apple for sign-in, purchases and notifications), or when the law requires it. Some of these providers may process data outside Singapore under their own data protection commitments.

7. Contact and changes

Questions about privacy? Email our Data Protection Officer at support@singa.education or use the feedback page. If we change this policy we will update this page and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
